Culturally Speaking is dedicated to providing meaningful opportunities for people of different faiths, cultures and ethnicities to interact with one another. Through events such as poetry readings and book clubs, community members can meet and begin to form bonds of respect and understanding with each other.
Culturally Speaking’s main focus, however, has been on educating the larger community about Middle-Eastern cultures. It is easy to fear (and thus hate) a group of people whose motives and worldview you don’t understand. It is the goal of Culturally Speaking to help people understand the United States’ relationship with the Middle East, the reasons the world situation looks so different from an Arab viewpoint, and most importantly what the difference is between the religion of Islam, the cultures of the Islamic world, and the politics of the world today.

I like the look of this site. However, I need to understand more about the focus of the information. There is a stated bias which is good in that it is transparent, but I am not sure that this fully covers the broad purpose of the site intention? Possibly, it would be a good idea to develop another topic justifying the broader intention as well? Otherwise, I feel very comfortable exploring this site because of its truthfulness. Thank You….Al

Welcome, Al! We’re beginning with the story of Muslims in KC because that is our current long-term project. As time goes on we’ll add other events/news about CS activities that include other ethnic groups and other KC area organizations.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope to hear from you again.
